This recipe makes 2 double pie crusts. The taste is slightly sweet and the crust is very light. It came in second place in our Pie Crust Challenge (2013).
Ingredients
4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1¾ cup shortening
2 teaspoons salt
1 egg
1 tablespoon vinegar
½ cup cold water
Instructions
With fork, combine and mix flour, sugar, shortening and salt.
In separate bowl beat egg; add vinegar and water.
Combine two mixes and chill one hour before using.
Keeps well in refrigerator.
