Asparagus with Sake Beef

Asparagus with Sake Beef~
You know that Spring is on it's way when you begin to see asparagus in the produce isle. This recipe with an Asian flare compliments the asparagus well.
Serves: 2
Ingredients
  • ½ pound beef, sliced into thin strips
  • 1 pound asparagus*
  • 8 ounces baby bella mushrooms*, pre-sliced
  • 1 large onion*, sliced into thin strips
  • ¼ cup Sake cooking wine
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ginger*, grated fresh
  • 1 tablespoon arrowroot
Instructions
  1. Cut beef into thin strips.
  2. In medium size bowl mix the Sake cooking wine and sesame oil and add beef. Marinate for approximately 20 minutes.
  3. In wok or skillet, add onions and cook until carmelized( slightly brown); add mushrooms.
  4. In a jar with cover add orange juice, ginger and arrowroot; cover, shake well and put aside.
  5. When mushrooms are cooked add beef to stir fry; pour additional marinade into jar and mix again.
  6. When beef is cooked to your preference add liquid and cook until slightly thickened.
  7. Place asparagus in a seperate skillet and drizzle with a small amount of oil. Stir-fry asparagus until bright green and very slightly browned. Serve as a side to the Sake beef.

I found Sake cooking wine at stop and Shop with the other cooking wines.
