Basic All Butter Pie Dough~
This recipe makes one double pie crust. The Basic All Butter is very flavorful and has a heavier flaky crust. It came in thrid place in our pie crust taste challenge (2013)
Ingredients
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon fine salt
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1 stick unsalted butter, cold, cut into small pieces
- 4-5 tablespoons ice water
Instructions
- Combine flour, salt and sugar in large bowl and stir briefly until mixture is aerated.
- Using a pastry blender or your fingers, cut the butter into the dry ingredients until it is in pea size pieces that are slightly yellow in color, about 4-5 minutes.
- Drizzle in ice water and mix until the dough comes together.
- Shape the dough into flat disks, cover in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, then roll out and use.
