Sally Piedmonte’s Foolproof Pie Dough

Sally Piedmonte's Foolproof Pie Dough~
This recipe makes 2 double pie crusts. The taste is slightly sweet and the crust is very light. It came in second place in our Pie Crust Challenge (2013).
Ingredients
  • 4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1¾ cup shortening
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • ½ cup cold water
Instructions
  1. With fork, combine and mix flour, sugar, shortening and salt.
  2. In separate bowl beat egg; add vinegar and water.
  3. Combine two mixes and chill one hour before using.
  4. Keeps well in refrigerator.
