Basic All Butter Pie Dough

Basic All Butter Pie Dough~
This recipe makes one double pie crust. The Basic All Butter is very flavorful and has a heavier flaky crust. It came in thrid place in our pie crust taste challenge (2013)
Ingredients
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon fine salt
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, cold, cut into small pieces
  • 4-5 tablespoons ice water
Instructions
  1. Combine flour, salt and sugar in large bowl and stir briefly until mixture is aerated.
  2. Using a pastry blender or your fingers, cut the butter into the dry ingredients until it is in pea size pieces that are slightly yellow in color, about 4-5 minutes.
  3. Drizzle in ice water and mix until the dough comes together.
  4. Shape the dough into flat disks, cover in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, then roll out and use.
