On Friday, September 20th, Foppema’s Farm had its first ever Pie Crust Taste Challenge. We selected 4 recipes: an All Butter, an All Crisco, a tried and true foolproof, and a new recipe developed by the folks at Cook’s illustrated(2007), also called foolproof. The pies were made exactly the same except for the pie crust and no one was given any information about how the crusts were made.
Our judges, the staff of Foppema’s Farm were each given a numbered plate containing a slice of each pie. Votes were cast by number (e.g.#1,#2,#3, or #4). We had a total of 13 votes.
