Sally Piedmonte's Foolproof Pie Dough~
This recipe makes 2 double pie crusts. The taste is slightly sweet and the crust is very light. It came in second place in our Pie Crust Challenge (2013).
Ingredients
- 4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1¾ cup shortening
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- ½ cup cold water
Instructions
- With fork, combine and mix flour, sugar, shortening and salt.
- In separate bowl beat egg; add vinegar and water.
- Combine two mixes and chill one hour before using.
- Keeps well in refrigerator.
